Focus On: Renault

This month we’re going to be focussing on award-winning road car manufacturer, Renault. With a reputation for spacious, robust and adaptable commercial vehicles, Renault is a good choice for tradespeople who are looking for high efficiency and a low running cost. We’re going to be exploring their range of versatile commercial vehicles and the selection of Smartvan racking currently available for Renault van models.

If you’re looking for some racking inspiration and want to know what other Renault owners have used to kit out their mobile workspace, read on!

Which Renault models can I rack out?

Bott Smartvan currently supply racking kits for two of Renault’s commercial options: the small-sized Kangoo, and the medium-sized Trafic.

The Kangoo is the smallest of the Renault range offering up to 4.6m3 of load capacity. It’s compact but it still leaves plenty of space to play with and makes the Kangoo a prime candidate for a lightweight, space-efficient racking system. Kits can be purchased for the Kangoo panel vans going back to models manufactured in 2008 and will fit either single or dual sliding side door variations. Popular modules include:

Module 11 – a shortened module that sits on the nearside of the van and allows full access to the sliding side door. Filled with our cleverly designed perfo storage panels, this rack is ideal for holding some of our handy storage accessories. The 500w open galvanised shelf is fully moveable and can be placed anywhere in the frame, making it well-suited for keeping extra tools or parts safe and secure in transit.

Module 102 – a basic, but highly versatile, module that sits at the rear offside of the van, making the most of the full length of the load area. The module includes 4 long, deep galvanised shelves that are ideal for storing larger or longer objects that need to be kept secure and off the floor.

If you’re looking to store smaller items on the shelves, such as screws or washers, there are a number of accessories that can help, ensuring that these parts stay organised and don’t slide around. The module comes with an in-shelf box kit supplied, adding seven bottBoxes that can be used to store and transport small parts to your jobs. Anti-slip mats and shelf dividers can also be purchased as part of our Recommended Accessory Kit through the configurator and make ideal accessories to further customise your module.

Top modules for the Renault Trafic

The Smartvan range for the Trafic offers customers a number of different racking options that can be customised to suit any trade or job. Kits are available for the panel and crew versions of the Trafic, L1 or L2 length wheelbases and single or dual side doors. Here are our most popular modules purchased by Trafic owners:

Module 408 sits on the nearside of the van and includes three deep, half-width perfo storage panels. Perfo panels are a very popular choice in the Smartvan range as they are incredibly versatile and ideal for holding accessories like our Tool Flex Clamps, Sealant or Aerosol Holders, Tiltboxes and Hose Holders. We even use perfo sheets to create the end panels for our side racks because we know they provide valuable extra space for hanging tools or safety kit, and it’s all easily accessible from the sliding side door!

Additionally, the module includes five 500w galvanised shelves of varying depths – up to 325mm. These versatile storage shelves can also be customised with adjustable shelf dividers, anti-slip mats or removeable bottBoxes from the configurator or you can purchase accessories at a later date from our online accessory shop.

Module 504 comes with a selection of removeable storage boxes so that parts you need to regularly transport inside to jobs can be quickly and easily moved from the van without additional time spent sorting them into carry cases, bags or your hand! From our VarioSort service cases which are perfect for the tiniest of parts like washers and screws, to larger VarioSafe boxes which can be attached to the racks on runners and have a lid that fastens shut for ease of transport between the van and your site. These can be fixed at any point in the rack so you can truly customise the set-up so it works for you.

Module 504 also includes four additional galvanised shelves to store any extra parts or kit you need to get on with your job day-to-day.

One of our most popular and useful modules – which can only be supplied on certain dual side door vans – is the reversed Module 601. A fairly basic module comprised of 4 shelves of varying depth, Module 601R can be turned so that the shelves are fully accessible from the outside.

No more clambering into the back of the van to collect your parts, now you can keep feet firmly on the ground and get what you need simply by sliding open the offside door.

Bulkhead racks like Module 103B are great ways of utilising usually wasted space in your van!

This module provides the most varied offering in our bulkhead range, including one full width and two half-width shelves of varying depths, an open section at the bottom so you can access your bulkhead load through hatch (just remember to open it before installation!) and 2 additional perfo panels where you can mount many of our accessory storage devices such as aerosol or sealant holders, paper roll holders, spring clips, cable hooks, Tool Flex Clamps, hose holders, Tiltboxes and more.
